Rodeo Austin - Where Weird Meets Western

Team Cohen was enjoying a stay-cation for the week of Spring Break, and we decided to try out Rodeo Austin for the first time. We know we enjoy the Houston fairgrounds, so we had high hopes for the local fun too. The crowds were light, the lines were short, and the rides were endless! In addition to the pictures below, we enjoyed watching goats prepare for competition, a cow milking demonstration, a butterfly encounter, pig races, trick horse riding, and much more!

These are the only happy pictures of Spencer you will see from that day. He was cranky, fussy, and determined to stay in Mommy's arms the entire day doing nothing else. (Fun fact: we confirmed the double ear infection the next day.)

With their unlimited ride wristband, Gabi and Ethan were over the moon riding whatever they wanted with no waiting!

I'm dizzy just watching.

Other fun rodeo festivities:

The petting zoo was full of great surprises from the expected goats and lambs to the calves, porcupine, tortoise, longhorn, and camel!

Ethan was comfortable in his element.

Well, sigh, however much I've tried to be a bad mom, my kids now think riding ponies is a realistic expectation at all rodeo fairgrounds.

What's a carnival without some kind of junk food? (Spencer politely declined.)

On our way out of the park, we had to stop by the carnival to take a little last advantage of the unlimited ride wristband.

She thought that riding backwards in a ladybug
tush was just about the funniest thing ever.

We would certainly go back next year! Hopefully ear-infection-free!
