On Saturday morning, we showed up briefly at Team Gilden's house, and Joey enthusiastically ran to give Spencer his birthday present a day early. It was 5 Sesame Street figurines that Spencer fell immediately in LOVE with, carrying them around the house all the time. (Not to seem ungrateful, we stayed for a few minutes for a brief visit.)

We helped a friend celebrate her birthday later that day, and Spencer took advantage of a photo op.
After nap that day, we went to the Domain for some "cousins pizza" and playtime!
And play we did! The biggest problem was - What do you do when more than one cutie wants all of your attention?
Sunday morning arrived. It was Spencer's *actual* birthday AND the day of his party. Ethan joined me bright and early to help make the special sweet treats we'd take with us. (He may have just been helping for the post-helping licks.) Then, Spencer woke up and quickly figured out the game.
Nana, Zayde, and Team Gilden joined us at Cedar Rock Railroad, aka the "choo choo park," for a great birthday party. There were trains to ride, trains to climb, and trains to crank ourselves. The "big kids" were excited to immediately crank their own fun:
With the big guys out of the way, that left Spencer and Shayna with the play area to themselves (for a few minutes at least).
It was finally time to go for a ride on the train! Spencer wanted NOTHING to do with it but relaxed after it started moving. (After all, he's TWOOOOOO.)
Ethan and Joey were living their best lives, screaming gleefully the entire ride.
It was time for those cupcakes we had made earlier that morning. There was too much of a breeze to keep the candles lit, but Spencer blew on them anyway.

The party continued at a pasta restaurant for lunch.
After nap, family showed up again for opening cards and presents. A definite highlight was his brand new ukelele from Nana and Zayde! (in other words, a Spencer-sized guitar)
While birthday dinner was cooking, we went outside to play with our new (unpictured) soccer goal from Grandma and Grandpa. One thing led to another...
How do you make up for the problem when the cupcake candles wouldn't work in the morning? More cupcakes, of course!
The next day, we brought cookies to share with Spencer's class at school.
In the afternoon, we were able to play our gift from cousins Noah and Sammy (since Mommy went to the store for batteries).

Happy Birthday sweet, funny, smart, cuddly, needy, whiny, smiley, snotty, musical Spencer!
