February 2019

February may be a short month, but we packed it full of fun. We had a big Disney trip and a big toddler's birthday celebration with lots of good ol' Cohen craziness in between.

This little guy is TWO. He also thinks his glasses are pretty funny.

When brainless screen time becomes a creative thinking activity - How will we watch it today?

For a little guy, he's full of big personality:

"I CHEESE pih-tur!"

I probably shouldn't take a picture first?

Climbing the stairs this way was impressive.

I managed to catch some samples of his verbal skills. (Clearly, he does his best work in the morning while still in pjs.)
some "EBCDs"

He wrote his own knock knock joke!

He can count to 20. He is also a toddler.
This movie demonstrates one of the
above statements to be accurate.

Sigh - butt up and all. Night night, sweet boy.

Spencer's older brother has surely inspired a love for all things superheroes!

And Spencer's excitement motivated the other 2 for dress up:

As we transition into the Ethan section of the blog, I present to you the dynamo duo who can now live their best lives with Spencer having his very own "tar!"

Ethan took a brief pause to go get his kippah. Then, they resumed.

Ethan is growing into a pretty selfless guy. He'll kiss the area of your booboo; he'll share his food or toy; and he'll greet anyone enthusiastically, including all package delivery personnel. He is a sweet boy to keep around!

He's a goofy goof too.

Gabi had her 6-year-old well check at the beginning of the month. She continues to be growing steadily, measuring 49.5 in (98% and 3.5 inches taller than last year!) and weighing 68 lb 6 oz (98%).

She also celebrated Valentines Day at school (with Daddy).

Gabi was getting very excited in the weeks
leading up to our big trip:
"In a few days, I am going to Disney World.
And I am going to a hotel for sleep time."

She slept there all night too.

Fun with cousins ensued when the Gildens came over for build-your-own-pizzas (and cousins bath)!

Let us in!

On second thought...

cousin kisses? baby staring contest?

February 6 comes every year, and every year we get suckered into National Fro Yo Day. We didn't see anyone complaining though.
...and after...

We went to a fun birthday party at Pump It Up.

Spencer spent the majority of his time happily on this "slide."

More fun was had at a gymnastics birthday party on a different day.

Bathtime with 3 kids in the tub at once is never dull:

Sometimes, it's the simple unplanned moments at home that are the best:

And last, but not least - Spencer's birthday wasn't the ONLY one recognized in Team Cohen's house this month. This beautiful matriarch turned 12 human years on February 26th. Happy Birthday, Maggie!

I'm TWOOOOOO

On February 24th, 2019, Spencer William Cohen turned TWO YEARS OLD! He is just as much of a toddler as the kid manuals say he should be - going from the cutest of cute to the screamiest of tantrums and back again in a flash. We are fully into "I DO IT!" and "NOOOOOO," so he's lucky he melts any heart with that smile. My little guy once again measured little but steady at 32" (6%) and weighs 24lb 7oz (10%). Since he deserves every bit of happiness, we had a full weekend of celebration with family, fun, and food!

On Saturday morning, we showed up briefly at Team Gilden's house, and Joey enthusiastically ran to give Spencer his birthday present a day early. It was 5 Sesame Street figurines that Spencer fell immediately in LOVE with, carrying them around the house all the time. (Not to seem ungrateful, we stayed for a few minutes for a brief visit.)

We helped a friend celebrate her birthday later that day, and Spencer took advantage of a photo op.

After nap that day, we went to the Domain for some "cousins pizza" and playtime!

And play we did! The biggest problem was - What do you do when more than one cutie wants all of your attention?

Sunday morning arrived. It was Spencer's *actual* birthday AND the day of his party. Ethan joined me bright and early to help make the special sweet treats we'd take with us. (He may have just been helping for the post-helping licks.) Then, Spencer woke up and quickly figured out the game.

taking the two-year-old oath

Nana, Zayde, and Team Gilden joined us at Cedar Rock Railroad, aka the "choo choo park," for a great birthday party. There were trains to ride, trains to climb, and trains to crank ourselves. The "big kids" were excited to immediately crank their own fun:

With the big guys out of the way, that left Spencer and Shayna with the play area to themselves (for a few minutes at least).

It was finally time to go for a ride on the train! Spencer wanted NOTHING to do with it but relaxed after it started moving. (After all, he's TWOOOOOO.)

Ethan and Joey were living their best lives, screaming gleefully the entire ride.

It was time for those cupcakes we had made earlier that morning. There was too much of a breeze to keep the candles lit, but Spencer blew on them anyway.

YUMMMMM!

a very happy birthday boy

Ethan and Joey each picked their party shirts very deliberately.

The party continued at a pasta restaurant for lunch.

After nap, family showed up again for opening cards and presents. A definite highlight was his brand new ukelele from Nana and Zayde! (in other words, a Spencer-sized guitar)

While birthday dinner was cooking, we went outside to play with our new (unpictured) soccer goal from Grandma and Grandpa. One thing led to another...

How do you make up for the problem when the cupcake candles wouldn't work in the morning? More cupcakes, of course!

Happy Birthday to Fefer!

The next day, we brought cookies to share with Spencer's class at school.

In the afternoon, we were able to play our gift from cousins Noah and Sammy (since Mommy went to the store for batteries).
At first, Spencer stood at the side,
entertained by his playful siblings.
Then, he quickly caught on to the idea.

Happy Birthday sweet, funny, smart, cuddly, needy, whiny, smiley, snotty, musical Spencer!
