Party van was ready to go on Friday afternoon! |
Our afternoon together began in the dog crate.
Shabbat began with homemade fresh sprinkle challah!
Shabbat dinner ended with banana bread to celebrate the birthday earlier in the week and the birthday coming up the next day!
(Note the attempted "J" and "E" in the candles.) |
The entire experience, however, ended with these silly pictures.
The night ended with Shayna/Reggie snuggles.
The next morning was a morning in Driftwood, so naturally, this is what our bed looked like. Also, it was ETHAN'S BIRTHDAY!!!
Anyone who has ever met Ethan ever knows that this kid lives for attention. And on his birthday, he was going to demand nothing less. He wanted to open presents right away, and he wanted to be surrounded by his favorite people.
Spencer excitedly chose dinosaur figures to gift to his brother. |
Ethan had brought a present to gift to Reggie on this special day as well: the world's largest bone.
At Birthday Breakfast, Aunt Syssa and Daddy each wanted to be as close to the guest of honor as possible.
More scenes around a pleasant day's start:
After breakfast, Ethan opens a present he had been wanting for a LONG time!
After Daddy and Aunt Syssa attempted to help Ethan navigate his new travel method, Nana and Zayde gifted the next crucial part of the present - the pads! - and the fun was taken outside.
Birthday fun continued with a pool party and junk snacks.
Birthday lunch from Torchy's Tacos:
Treat #786: mint oreo cupcake cones upon request
(Note the number formed with the cones.) |
After the pool party, Ethan got to open MORE presents from Grandma and Grandpa while video chatting with them in Florida.
He was so excited for his own digital camera and a Lego set to build his own remote car! |
Ethan's next birthday party brought together cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents from all around the country to make beeswax candles in preparation for the upcoming new year's celebration.
7-year-old Ethan Robert ended his long day with cousins and pizza. Not a bad day at all. (And since I need it recorded somewhere here, big man now weighs 55 lbs (69%) and measures 4 ft. tall exactly (50%)).
As with the night before, Reggie ended her day in her most special way - with Gilden snuggles. (Pay attention to this running theme.)
On Sunday morning, we got ready to go to the creek at Camp Ben McColloch.

If it's a Driftwood summer day that ends in "y," we can squeeze the pool in.
Since I had the next birthday in line, we asked the other 4 adults to keep our kids alive and snuck out for drinks, dinner, and strolling.
And sure enough, Reggie achieved some Gilden snuggles before the night was over.
On Monday morning, it was my birthday - which mostly meant more food with sugar.
Jon got me a projector for my birthday! |
so many ways to creatively express "Happy Birthday" |
The next birthday belonged to the world. For the 2nd weird weird year in a row, we were spending Rosh Hashanah remotely and trying our best to help educate the children, helping them connect to tradition when it's not safe to return completely to shul. Before dinner, we started with some apple and honey appetizers:
The children were very excited to start the new year with their very own new candles they made 2 days earlier at Ethan's birthday party.
Rosh Hashanah 2021:
After 4+ days - that's it?? - of family, food, fun, and so many birthdays, it was time to head home to tackle the next adventures of the year ahead from there.
