My children ran into our room first thing Saturday morning, asking if they could go to Driftwood early if they packed SUPER quickly for Galveston....Uh....sure? So packing for Galveston happened quickly. Overnight packing for Driftwood happened quickly. And we turned a day trip into an overnight trip, with extra pool time and extra fun.
Yes, we were excited to celebrate America's birthday on July 4th. Yes, we were excited to wake up and already be at Driftwood to start the party right away. No, I did not need Ethan's enthusiastic lights to get us started at 6:45 am. But, perhaps it motivated the patriotic march parade that followed...
The high energy dance party started before breakfast and kept going throughout the day.
Aunt Syssa was proud of her baby's breakfast. Spencer was proud of his sticker-by-number dolphin picture. And I was pretty proud of the tushy I created.
Another day in Driftwood, another pool party:
Big Spencer was brave over and over and over again as he enthusiastically flew off the diving board. |
Back inside, Joey had found a book with instructions for making cucumber penguins. Aunt Syssa helped the project take shape, and Joey and Gabi were pretty proud of the creations.
After the rest of the crew lost interest, Aunt Syssa attempted a "mouse." She was quite proud of herself, even though there was an ongoing debate about what animal the creation actually resembled.
After lunch, Nana had prepared a make-your-own patriotic dessert with angel food cake, cool whip, and colorful fruit. (The aunts snuck into the pantry and remembered the red, white, and blue sprinkles that existed as well!)
TIMEOUT for TCDC class picture! We commissioned one-of-a-kind class t-shirts from Aunt Sandi to commemorate the one-of-a-kind daycare facility out of our house during an unprecedented worldwide pandemic. We were proud to have provided the education to the kiddos that we did. We are incredibly grateful that they're no longer enrolled in such a daycare. And we are grateful for the shirts to help us remember the weirdness! (And Spencer did not want to be in the class picture.)
Time back in! We headed to Dripping Springs and found BINGO - super fun!
After a super yummy cookout from the grill, we headed outside for sparklers!
We even provided our own soundtrack. |
Happy Birthday, 'Merica! |
