With a Kaiman cousin getting married in Austin, Ari squeezed in an extra visit up North to chat for a bit! I last saw my high school/USY/college friend/prom date when baby Gabi was 5 months old. I was so grateful for the comfortable conversation.
And then, Surprise! Guess which other Kaiman cousin popped on over to Austin? Yay for seeing Dan whom we probably haven't seen since our 2007 wedding!
It's been fun getting extra Nana and Zayde visits this month as their Driftwood House neared building completion. This month, we got to celebrate Zayde's birthday with him too!

Gabi made this delightful creation with pop beads. |
Mid-month, we celebrated our most favorite and special Daddy on Father's Day! These three children are blessed not with a perfect father, but with one who tries his darndest every day to be better than the day before.

Gabi was treated to a special Daddy date this month that included movie and dinner (and ice cream)!
Mommy makes it in the pictures too sometimes (mostly when I take the pictures of myself).
We captured many sweet sibling moments this month:
When given the choice of special treat, Ethan chose lollipop (over a McDonald's ice cream cone???) which meant Spencer was treated to his very first lollipop ever.
These 2 together...we're in for a wild and exciting ride.
I get so pleased and proud at how much Spencer admires his big brother and sister. They love him wholeheartedly back.
Gabi's creativity continues to amaze us. Her art and craftwork lasts for hours as she enjoys the process of creating with multiple materials. She can be the sweetest big sister and the most helpful, responsible daughter. She can also be a huge pain the tushy that makes a calm adult want to do some serious punching damage. Ahhhh, 5 is fun.
perfectly normal, I'm sure |
When motivated, she can be very helpful in the kitchen. |

One night, Gabi was in charge of dinner. She wrote a grocery list for our ingredients for "pretend lasagna," grabbed what we needed at the store (crossing off each item as it went in our cart), and helped follow the directions on the recipe.
Ethan was a most delightful and helpful sous chef. |
...Which provides us a transition to an Ethan spotlight. Ethan may tell you that he's working on chewing with his lips closed and asking before touching things. But don't hold your breath on those happening successfully without another couple thousand reminders. His sweet voice and warm hugs continue to melt even the toughest momma.
He has become quite the climber! |
When we got this new robe from cousin Jacob, of course he was instantly freezing and needed to wear it immediately. |
Peekaboo Ethan! |

In Spencer world, he still has 8 teeth, and he still drools a lot. His babbling includes more consonant sounds, and he can repeat simple syllables. He has been seen signing more, please, all done, none of which is consistent and none of which prevents shrieking to express frustration. (When he does sign, he is quickly to applaud for himself though.) He is a happy boy with energy, spunk, and lots of giggles (as long as you don't want a stranger to be in any way friendly to him).
Spencer figured out how to open his diaper this month... ...which gave him access to exploring the goods inside. |
accessorizing (note the necklace through his legs too) |
They say you don't need to buy toys for kids. Just give them a box. |
Of course he took off every top to every marker...right before I needed to pick up the other 2 siblings from preschool. |
Once again, keeping him happy and awake all morning proved challenging some days. |
Playing in mud at the playground got his clothes taken off. Playing with mud after clothes came off earned him a sink bath. |
just being a Spenceman |
By the end of the month, Nana and Zayde's brand new compound was "finished," furniture was delivered and getting assembled, and we went down to take a look.
Gabi and Ethan picked their beds. |

As per usual, we had several great playdates this month, few of which were photographed since the mommies were likely ignoring the kiddos as they played. Fortunately, I was in the right place at the right time to capture the seesaw fun at Maven and Addi's house:
Having spent a lot of time with our new Texan neighbors this month AND since Zayde was in many cute pictures with my children this month (see Fig. A), I tried to take an adorable picture of a couple cute kiddos with Nana.

(But then they ran over and said, "Let's take a picture with Zayde too!" Then, Daddy got his turn.)
But then-
