You Only Turn 8 Once

It was time once again to descend upon Houston for our annual celebration of Jacob's Birthday! As per usual, challah dough traveled from Austin. Upon arrival, the girls got busy braiding and painting, readying the dough for the oven. (Gabi added her personal touch of flour on top, calling it "snow challah" in honor of the freak snowstorm that had just passed through central Texas.)

Playtime!

"Shabbat's about to start," you say? Meh, fro yo time it is!!!

It was time to bring in the light of Shabbat.

The next morning was the day of Jacob's party! Operation "Keep Kids Busy" commenced!

I was grateful to sneak away on a lovely Shabbat walk with Mor.

(Apparently, my dad was ready to keep taking pictures.)

Party time! Aunt Sandi invited some coaches to come play lots of different sports with lots of different balls in their backyard. So basically, my kids did whatever they wanted...in rain boots...

Ethan plays with Dan.

Time for cake!

Bright green and blue ice cream cake (COVERED in candy) was the only way!

It was time to clean up after all that running and eating.

Birthday boy had been waiting patiently all weekend to feed Spencer, and he finally was able to at breakfast. I think more yogurt ended up on the tray than in the mouth, but they were both super happy in the process!

Gabi and Nana discovered a new way to play chess.

Happiest of Birthdays to this great big 8-year-old cousin! We were so grateful to be able to celebrate with you.

No carbs were sacrificed in the making of this weekend.
