Sukkot

The Jewish High Holy Day season was a month late this year due to adding a leap month. And thank goodness! While we built our big white hut in the back yard in 90 degree heat, we got to enjoy it in the 70s! Once again, we had many hands on deck in our sukkah's construction, a family activity I enjoy doing together every year.

Big sister was snoozing the afternoon that we started, so the 2 boys enjoyed putting the frame together with their parents.

Dancing ensued.

Time for the schach (the roof and shade).

Girlfriend woke up and stepped right in to help.

They found and named this guy "Etrog."

Construction Phase I complete.

Time for decorations:

It was time for the holiday to begin. On night 1, Team Cohen welcomed 2 guests into our sukkah for dinner: Shay and Zayde.

It's nice to change up the routine: the kids stayed out late playing dominoes in the sukkah on a lovely, cool fall evening.

The next afternoon, we were excited to do the lulav shake!

Zayde was back for Night 2.

We started a new craft placing wax sticks on CDs to become decorations to enhance and elevate our sukkah space.

Dessert!

On Friday night, we had our annual lateover in the sukkah with Team CohGil. We started with the tradition of making (and eating) edible sukkot (and Shay's annual tradition of an edible robot).

CohGils made more crafty CDs for sukkah decoration.

the beautiful creations

We ended the night with another favorite annual tradition, keeping the experience authentic, just like our ancestors wandering in the desert.

Pizza Hut in the hut!

After varying schedules and family get togethers. it was nice to finally get a sukkah dinner without guests.

And in conclusion-
