On Thursday, Feffuary 24, 2022, I had 3 very excited kids to help celebrate a very excited Spencer William turning a very big 5 years old. Gabi and Ethan wanted the birthday boy to immediately open the presents they hand selected for him.
Our area was expecting some freezing weather and wet streets, so the schools declared a 2 hour delay the night before. We had some extra time to relax without rushing out the door, extra time to video chat with our adoring fans.
Thanks to the delayed start to school, we could have a special breakfast of Belgian waffles AND invite our cousin bestie to join us.
extra sprinkles and a SPESH high 5; we're off to a great start! |
We found out that most of the schools changed their status from delayed start to completely closed for the weather. So Spesh loaded up in the car to take Gabi and Ethan to school (even though other local schools had already cancelled.) They had a surprise waiting for them on the way:
Big boy loved hearing his sweet name on the radio. |
Fun fact: As we were just about at the elementary school 20 minutes from home on the "icy roads" and school drop off was beginning, school announced closure for the day. Sooooooo, the school bus turned around, drove 20 minutes back on the icy roads, and we continued our birthday together - full of surprises.
Thank goodness for new toys to entertain us on our surprise day at home. |
We enjoyed much Gilden love as they, too, were having a day different than originally planned. |
Another original plan for the day (ha?) included special Mommy-Birthday Boy time at his very FIRST movie theater experience. As luck would have it, now the big sibs got to join too!
Apparently, zero other people in the entire world wanted to join us at this experience, so maskless Team Cohen had the entire theater to ourselves. |
So many circumstances changing throughout the day led to the possibility that Daddy could join us at the movies! |
Spencer chose his dinner restaurant, and all of Team Cohen enjoyed our company together.
The next day, we did birthday part II, where we got to celebrate with crown and cookies at school!
Spencer enjoyed opening and playing with more toys and presents from many generous fans over the next few days.

Thanks to Boston Kayes for creating this moment: "I cannot even believe it, Mommy. You're not even helping me. It's my very own Lego set! I'm actually a really big boy." |
At big man's well check the next week, they tried to hand me a paper saying my peanut was measuring 87% in height. I just looked at them and said, "Nope." They remeasured: 32.8 lbs (3%) and 3' 3.25" (2%). That's more like it.
My first name was Rocky!!!?????
