End of a Weird Weird School Year

For 13 months, my elementary age students stayed at home, learning virtually, circumstantially, or at times, coincidentally. For the last 2 months, they attended school in a building. At the end of it all, our family stayed safe, healthy, happy, and even learned a little, despite any additional stress on mental sanity...

Gabi and Ethan finished up their 2nd and final in-person month for the school year and are ready to tackle summer camp in June. Both big kids transitioned to a new building with new teachers and new peers incredibly smoothly; both performed really well academically; and both proudly earned "Student of the Week" honors.

To mark the end of a weird era, the school invited one parent per family to the end-of-year celebration, the first time parents were allowed inside the building all school year. Daddy was able to attend for both scholars' parties, and Gabi, Ethan, and Jon enjoyed the cookie and mug decorating (and eating).

Somehow, we survived this (hopefully one-of-a-kind) school year and lived to take the pictures and tell the tale. In summary:

first day of the school year (from home) - Kinder and 2nd Grade

so much screen time

Surprise!

first day in person
