Camp the Day Away

Being that our children have been exclusively under our care for 10 months now, we decided it was perfect timing to register them for their first ever sleepaway camp experience. We have signed them up - Gabi for 3 weeks and Ethan for 10 days - to attend the very Camp Young Judaea that I proudly attended in my youth, and we are very excited about providing a similarly enriching, formative Jewish experience for our children as well.

We don't know what this coming summer will actually look like, but for now, we were invited to attend an Open House to tour the grounds, eat some lunch, and enjoy the day away. I enjoyed the nostalgia of what remains the same and appreciated the upgrades to the campus as well. And the kids just LOVED anticipating the excitement of camp. (P.S. You won't find Daddy in any picture because the Austin air space needed him more than camp did.)

We got lucky with the gorgeous and sunny weather to help brighten our day.

One of the newer additions (in the last 25 years) that I found particularly delightful was the treehouse over the lake.

An oldie that will never get old is the zipline in the middle of camp. I was so proud to see my children carry on the tradition.

circa sometime in the 90's

Having not played on a playground for most of COVID, Gabi, Ethan, and Spencer loved being able to use all of the equipment available at camp!

They seem ready.
