We got ready ahead of time by painting a special present for Jon. Mommy bought a white wide-brimmed hat, hoping Daddy may actually wear it. The kids created the concept of rainbows, hand-prints, and a star on top, and we made the vision come to reality.

Daddy got his free birthday Starbucks drink and treated the big kids to their first chocolate milks. |
We decided we didn't need to wait until after dinner to have cake. After we all sang to Daddy, he had some help blowing out the candles.
After we munched on the yummy banana cake, we surprised Daddy with his new one-of-a-kind hat.
By the next day, Team Cohan had come in from Houston to join in the birthday bash. Jacob and Ethan shared a guitar jam session which delighted both of them (until Jacob learned he was on camera).
Uncle Jon/Daddy was surprised to another cake; this time - ice cream (and a lot more kids)!
Then, it was Saturday night, so cousins pizza was the obvious next plan.
No Austin birthday celebration would be complete without Shayna and Joey too! |
We had a day to entertain children and keep them excited about birthday festivities.
After some playtime at home, we ventured to Cedar Rock Railroad and had a lot of fun climbing, riding, and cousin-ing.
Special Aunt Sandi bought tickets to the crank cars for the kiddos to ride.
All Aboard! We boarded the train and rode through fields and forests of fun.
(Note the Mira-Spencer partnership in many of these moments.) |
Cousin fun continued at lunch!
Jacob lent a helping hand with both small cousins and cupcake preparations. |
On Sunday night, two very exhausted but very special aunts took some very big kids out very late for some glow-in-the-dark mini golf in black light. Then we ate some gelato and Icees way past everyone's bedtime.
It was time to officially turn the focus to our next birthday boy! On Monday morning (Labor Day, September 3rd), we had a fabulous musical birthday party filled with friends and family that is documented in a separate post. After the party, we snuck quickly to the playground next door before coming home to rest.
Later that afternoon, Mommy took the gigantic birthday boy on a special date to the mall and movies to see Incredibles 2. After the movie, Big Ethan was happy as could be with food court pasta and was in complete heaven with a lemonade treat.
Good morning, September 4!!! Happy official Birthday to sweet-as-can-be Ethan Robert! He continues to ask questions to understand the world around him, offer hugs to anyone he meets, and appreciate anything musical or rhythmic. Statistically, he is growing beautifully, measuring 3 ft 4.75 in (61%) and weighs 42.4 lb (90%). He woke up on his birthday and got straight to work opening a few cards and gifts from adoring fans and family.

We had everyone excited about opening new presents and toys.
Ethan got a HUGE PJ Masks headquarters from Grandma and Grandpa. He got a Spiderman mask from Mommy and Daddy. The excitement just kept rolling in.

With Ethan's recent love of puzzles combined with his recent love of all things superheroes, Nana and Zayde knew exactly what to get for him. |
During the day of September 4th, Mommy had a meeting and Gabi had Kindergarten, so Daddy helped increase the birthday fun by bringing Ethan and Spencer to Little Land Play Gym. With male bonding and opportunities for gross motor and fine motor play, it was a success!
To end a great day, Ethan chose Kerbey Lane Cafe, and Team Gilden joined us for a celebratory dinner.
Some may think that September 5th would have been a resting day between celebrations, but NOPE! We got to celebrate with Ethan's friends at school and enjoy cupcake yumminess together.
And last but definitely not least, September 6th arrived, and we all pretended that we had enough energy left to care about Mommy's birthday. Thanks to Daddy for sneaking in an Edible Arrangement of yummy fruit for us to enjoy for snack that afternoon.
On the afternoon of my birthday, I invited folks to join me in not cooking or cleaning up any kitchens. We went to Phil's Icehouse for burgers and more. The kiddos had a great time running on the playground, and sweet Jill brought a surprise cake for everyone to enjoy.

I had a lot of helpful friends to blow out my candle and share in the sweet treat.
I wasn't even feeling 100%, but I was so grateful for the sweet friends and family who came out and distracted me and my little ones!
Thanks to Alice, Alyssa, Lily, Jill (and unpictured Amira) for bringing your families to come celebrate with me! |

60% of us are now a whole year older and wiser, but I for 1 am several years more tired. Until the next celebration!
