We were delighted that Mommy's cousin Brian got in touch that he'd be visiting Austin one weekend. He joined us for Shabbat dinner, played beautifully with the kiddos, and had a great visit with us all.
These guys enjoyed cousin time as well!
Since the day we started talking about baby brother, Gabi has been enthusiastically waiting to serve Spencer mashed bananas. The day had FINALLY arrived, and it was time! She got to mash them herself and see what a true pain he is to feed.
such a great big sister! |
Speaking of pain to feed - Spencer, stop eating your bib! Eat the mashed, unflavored pureed stuff.
Now that Ethan turned 3 at the beginning of the month, he was thrilled to be able to start swim lessons! He's in the same instructional pool as Gabi but with different teachers.
Meanwhile, Spencer - who was supposed to be in child watch but screamed the whole time there - joined us for the great first Ethan swim lesson...
And the second and the third... |
When the 6 month old is already doing this, we know we're in trouble.
Well, shoot...May be time to lower the crib... |
Jon grew up with the tradition of doing Havdalah with his family every Saturday evening and has fond memories of the experience. I decided to surprise him with a new Havdalah set for his birthday so that our family can also build special memories with this sweet ceremony.
Sweet cuddles with Gabi and Maggie early one morning:
And speaking of kitties-
"I think I'm about to regret this choice," says Nikki. |
"Maybe he won't notice if I sneak by REALLY quickly." |
Nana and Zayde came on down to Austin for a few days to officially start the building of their new mega-house. We enjoyed spending some quality time together!
Zayde got to perform a duet with Ethan's favorite birthday present. |
On Saturday night, we headed to the Domain and enjoyed some music on the lawn.
Time for Havdalah!
And then - Because one kid with croup wasn't fun enough, Spencer went and caught the croup virus too, poor baby.
And just like that, we said goodbye to 5777 and Shanah Tovah to 5778! We enjoyed lots of apples, lots of honey, and LOTS of round challot! (and lots of shul time as well)
Somehow, on September 24, Spencer William turned 7 months old. He crawls anywhere and everywhere (still CANNOT roll over from his back), grabs anything and everything to put in his mouth, pulls up and supports himself to stand, pretty much hates eating pureed solid foods, continues to wake once or twice a night, has developed separation and stranger anxieties, and charms and smiles and coos and snuggles.

My sweet sweet Ethan has assumed the stereotypical 'middle child' position in the family. Fig A:
Gabi and Spencer are sweetly playing together. Mommy bends down to take a picture: |
Ethan runs over shouting, "I WANT TO BE IN THE PICTURE TOO!!!" |
This 3-year-old started wearing big boy UNDERWEAR this month! A trip to the hospital with croup tried to thwart our progress, but big man was determined and is doing great at staying dry!
Did Blue Doggy shrink or did the kid explode? |
These two are siblings through and through but MAN, do they play nicely together (MOST of the time)! I'm excited to see how Spencer will fit into the mix.
