New Adventures

Since arriving in Texas, we have all been trying our best to get as settled as possible, being that we're moving AGAIN at the end of this month. We have been experiencing lots of new and exciting adventures in the mean time.

New adventures mean:

New milestones! Gabi is getting closer and closer every day to sitting up by herself. She sits up very well with support and has begun holding herself up independently for just a few seconds.

New toys, which can come in the least expensive ways sometimes! Crush a water bottle, put some water in it, and you have a perfectly noisy, holdable, lickable fun object to play with!

New sleeping styles! Gabi has been found sleeping on her side and her stomach many times now! In the middle picture nap, she was placed on her back without a pacifier and was found on her stomach with pacifier in; such a big girl! We have since taken her swaddle away from the sleeping routine; she's growing up so fast.

New games! Her laugh may be semi-pitiful at times, but it's ALWAYS cute!

(...And Stay-At-Home-Motherhood
has its benefits for me as well.)

Gabi and I got straight to work looking in our new town for some new friends. I joined some meetup groups online with other SAHMs (stay at home moms) to cuties around Gabi's age. We've kept ourselves quite busy, exploring play dates, coffee dates, and even events at a local toybrary (a library for toys)! We've met some great people, and it's been really cute watching Gabi interact with other babies which she's never had an opportunity to do before:

At her very first play date, we met a 3 month old named Sebastian who enjoyed sticking his entire arm up Gabi's dress. Gabi, without having any idea what her body was doing at the time, proceeded to smack Sebastian several times in the face. Sebastian's mother tried to suggest to him that when a girl smacks him in the face, it may be time to get out of her dress...They'll learn.

Although Nora may be a few months younger than her, Gabi can still hold hands with her very sweetly.

This is the first play date with 3 cuties who all live very close to each other. We are hoping to spend more time with Nora, Clara, and their mommies!

As any faithful blog audience may note, she has started eating "solid" foods from a big girl spoon.  Gabi has been introduced to rice cereal and oatmeal cereal, and she has now explored 2 vegetables: squash and green beans...One went better than the other:

mmmm, squash!
first tasting of green beans, not really loving it...

And with solid foods, comes the introduction of sippy cups and water! She figured out how to hold it quickly, but couldn't quite get the "sippy" thing down yet...

Since we temporarily live in an apartment complex with a very convenient pool, we have taken advantage of introducing Gabi to the water and letting her explore. She loved it so much that I just had to order a float for her with sun canopy and all!

Gabi loved swimming with Nana! (who was visiting
for her 2nd time since we've moved here!)

Of course, she loves Aunt Syssa and Uncle Craig
time too...even if Nana keeps showing up :).

She kicks; she swims; she smiles!

And of course, an update wouldn't be terribly complete without a kitten update:

After been found and rescued from being locked up in a closet
all night, Nikki proceeded to let herself into a different closet
for a nap, not the brightest crayon in the box.

Being that our apartment doesn't have weights available for her use,
Maggie needs to be creative finding other means for a pillow.
