3 Months Old

Mommy and Gabi had a girls weekend in Atlanta with Nana and Zayde while Daddy stayed in Asheville to relax by himself (and the kittens).  All parties enjoyed themselves!  We, of course, had an (ice cream) party to celebrate big girl's 3-month birthday!

3-month-old Gabi has amazing gross motor skills!  She can kick and wave her arms marvelously (whether on her back OR tummy!), and her head/neck control continues to get better.  We discovered by accident that this little flyer has a new trick and holds herself up really well when going for a ride.  The cooing is getting really cute, and the smiles increase every day!

We're still working on those fine motor skills.  She is not yet holding balls or objects, so she is not bringing objects to her mouth to explore.  BUT there is not a person worried about this smart angel's development.  We continue to love the cutie more and more each day!

Gabi learns a new trick.

Gabi and Zayde find a common interest.
(FYI, it wasn't the crossword puzzle...)

Cutie loves to fly!

Time for the ice cream party!

She's not quite sure what to do...

...but she quickly gets excited and figures it out!

Oh no! Where did the lights go? :(

And, of course, the monthly photo-shoot:

Picture hog, Uncle Tani, felt left out and decided he acts like he's 3-months-old anyways...Just ask his mommy, Nana.

Having partied too much the day before, Gabi needs her beauty rest.

After our power nap, we're fed, happy and ready to go see Daddy! (That's the longest Daddy and Gabi have been apart her whole life.)

When we returned home, we found Gabi's new present delivered to us! Mommy put it together all by herself. Enjoy the video, smiles, and coos, but ignore the high pitch squeaks from the anonymous adult behind the camera...

Kitten Princesses

I do have to publicly apologize to kittens Brook and Nikki who had big girl birthdays in April, and neither was acknowledged on the blog like big sister Maggie.

Happy Birthday on April 1st to 3-year-old Brook, and Happy Birthday on April 22nd to 3-year-old Nikki!!! Critics may call me weird and cat-obsessed (both of which would be accurate), but you both help give our family the character we have and make up an important part of TEAM COHEN :).  Happy Birthday, ladies!

Sitting on top of 2 blankets and a pillow, we were wondering if
Brook would be able to feel a pea if we put one underneath.

If you leave the glasses cabinet open for just a second,
clearly that's an invitation for a Nikki hang-out spot.

Sweet Maggie and Nikki cuddle together. (Maggie had FOMO.)

For Your Pleasure

Nana declared that less than a week of not posting pictures constituted me "falling behind"...

So enjoy the continued, now more smiley, cuteness.

First some videos to show her current movement.  The second video is a whole minute of the same thing (cuteness), so if you're not an obsessed grandparent, you do not have to watch the whole thing.

not sure if the bed is big enough...

Thanks to former neighbors, Anne and Vic Lafleur,
for coming back to visit (and following the blog)!

Daddy shows off the plate that Gabi painted
for him as an early Father's Day present.

Aunt Sandi wasn't feeling so well, so Gabi put on the Houston hat she gave her and tried to cheer up the sick aunt.

We may have outgrown many things already, but Jasper continues to be a big favorite!

And now for those SMILES I promised! Gabi is one happy baby (when she's well-rested and well-fed). It doesn't take as much squeaking anymore; she just LOVES to smile!

As spoke Daddy: "BEST PICTURE SO FAR!"

The Return of Aunt Erica

Aunt Sandi was the first aunt to see Ms. Gabi twice, but Aunt Erica can claim the first aunt to visit Gabi twice.  We had a lovely visit, filled with smiles, Gabi's first hike (!), and LOTS of froyo!

Of course, we went to Tupelo Honey Cafe (no surprise), but for the first time, we actually remembered to take out the camera inside the restaurant to capture the ginormous amount of food we always order. Daddy enjoyed his date too.

Mommy learned how to use the Moby Wrap (which got better in later uses after the photo shoot of course) to take Gabi on her very first hike!  We found Moore Cove Falls in Pisgah National Forest.  We saw the front, back, AND sides of the waterfall, and we wouldn't have even made Daddy nervous (had he been there).  It was a gorgeous day and a gorgeous hike!

getting that tushy in there

Look, Mom, no hands!

Aunt Erica decided to stay an extra night and work from (our) home on Monday... which turned into working outside on a sunny day... which turned into... well, Gabi and I may have been a tad bit distracting.
