Thanksgiving In (and Around) Driftwood

As we have done for many years, we ventured to Driftwood to spend time with family for Thanksgiving. Being the end of November, we didn't pack bathing suits because, of course, the pool would be too cold. Can we put our feet in the water, they asked? Sure. Can they put their whole bodies in the water, they asked? Even if it was cold, the acknowledged. Fine, I answered, but only if I take a video.

Gabi had been especially looking forward to Thanksgiving because momma decided she was old and responsible enough to get her ears pierced, a Red Tent tradition!

making sure the placement is just right

(We recreated some important moments from the last Red Tent ears piercing experience in 2016.)

We got it done, and big girl handled it like a champ!

My baby girl is growing up AND growing UP! (And you can see the lightning rod earrings that she chose.)

Celebratory chips and queso before heading back to the Kompound!

Thanksgiving together always gives us an opportunity (excuse?) to celebrate Aunt Sandi's birthday. (eat ice cream cake?)

Reggie refused to go to her crate that night and instead tried to blend in and snuggle with others, hoping I wouldn't notice if she was cute and sweet. Others thought it was hilarious.

Sandi's birthday wish was that she watch Wicked II with her family, and many of us were happy to help make it happen.

Final scenes to sum up Thanksgiving in Driftwood in a nutshell:
