Field Trip Fun - San Antonio

All 4th graders in Texas study the state's "great" history throughout the year and at Pond Springs, they get treated to a pretty special field trip to the Alamo in San Antonio. I was privileged to be able to chaperone the field trip again this year with my most excited Ethan and his friends.

Legend has it that William Barrett Travis scratched a line in the courtyard sand and invited his men to join him
on one side to commit their lives to the fight against Santa Anna's army or stay on the other and attempt escape.
After his death at the battle in 1836, his definitive cry, "Victory or Death" ensured that Texans remembered the Alamo.

We were treated to a musket and rifle firing to learn how the differed in loading times and aim quality.

While the rest of the classes returned to Austin, Mommy and Ethan remained to continue our Field Trip at the San Antonio Aquarium.

When visiting the sting rays, we were delightedly surprised when a manager came over and handed us a huge amount of shrimp with which to feed them.

So many fun creatures to pet!

Ethan had one of the most unique aquarium experiences when he got to go on a Koi Walk!

He greets. He laughs. Weren't we surprised?

One of our other favorite experiences at the aquarium also happened outside when we got to hang out with some beautiful birds, one that literally talked with us and even mocked my laugh.

Epic peacock vs. goat battle caught on camera, followed by the peacock declaring victory as only peacocks can...

And last, but not least, we ended our incredibly special day together at the San Antonio Riverwalk.
