We didn't really think they should all sit together in the back, but nonetheless... |
Most of the day was spent at The Science Mill, a fantastic science museum that featured dozens of fun, interactive, "powerfully playful" exhibits that indulged both the kids' and adults' curiosities. The museum purposefully does not have lengthy guides or instructions so that each of us could create our own journey with each experience.
We took flight on a 4D virtual reality experience to see through the eyes of a pterosaur and soar above the 150-million-year-old landscape.
We played "Mindball" which hooked up biosensors that read the electrical signals from each player's brain. We had to keep our brainwaves calm and steady to send the ball rolling towards our opponent. Fun fact: Gabi rocked it!
We spent quite a while with the Colossal Robotic Hand, an impressive 30-foot-tall stainless-steel installation that we could control with a remote joystick to operate the fingers and knuckles.
When we had concluded our scientific exploring, we turned our educational experience historical by walking a block up the road to the boyhood home of our 36th president, Lyndon B. Johnson. We conveniently arrived minutes before a tour of the house was starting and enjoyed learning about Central Texas 100 years ago.
To cool off, we went to the world-famous Johnson City local creamery, aka Dairy Queen.
Thanks for the fun day, Johnson City!
