November 2019

This month's post is full of great content. And also, there is no cohesive story whatsoever. Good luck.

All 3 kids had school pictures this month. And all 3 kids delivered.

Gabriella Daphna
Age 6.5, 1st grade

Ethan Robert
Age 5, Pre-K

Spencer William
Age 2.5, Mockingbirds :)

Gabi and Spencer shared some sweet moments (on AND off camera):

I imagine the artists of this 10 Commandments sculpture had this in mind during creation...

I let the Cohen crazies stay up a little late to watch the first half of "Little Mermaid Live." This was their chosen watching position:

The entire Team Cohen enjoyed going to a friend's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese together.

We love time with our favorite Austin cousins!

Headed out to IHOP for a joingt Gilden-Cohen family night out:

Kookoo Kiddos:
post-dinner dancing
Why does he let them do this?

Daddies are good for so many things.

Grandma had sent us some money intended for fro yo. So what's a family to do? Thank you, Grandma!

Meanwhile, we got a box from the other grandmother. Thanks to Nana for additional (albeit less tasty) entertainment.

Spencer:

It's a wonder why he
was too upset to nap.

Gabi's school's art night

I'd be remiss if I let this month go by without highlighting Spencer's new love for puzzles. When the 2.5 year old was completing 48-piece puzzles several times a day over and over, it occurred to me that we could gift the baby ones away.
If only we all took this much pride in our accomplishments...

Lest anyone forgets that Spencer is a toddler,
I present you with that time he refused to
walk home from the playground, insisting on
being carried. When I walked away from the
screaming toddler (myself refusing to carry him),
he quickly caught up to me with more screaming
than before. When I ignored him, holding his hand
for the remainder of our walk home, he calmed.
Until he remembered that he was supposed to be sad.
And then he forgot he was supposed to be sad.
And then he remembered.

Gabi:

Few 6.5-year-olds nap. Even fewer - I'd guess -
sneak out of their room during "naptime" to fall
asleep on the cushion in the playroom.

When Austin was invading by an arctic cold front and
schools were operating on a 2-hour delay, that called
for special Mommy-Gabi time out for breakfast!

"Can you please take a picture of my plate, Mommy!"
"Uhhh, ok...?"

2 days later...

"Can you take a picture of me with my food?"
"I already took a picture of you with your food."
"No! It's not the same thing."

Daddy thought he was folding laundry. Gabi thought she was getting snuggles. Turns out, Gabi was right.

Ethan finished up his first ever baseball season and was incredibly proud to "earn" his first trophy!

Then Daddy and Ethan continued the rest of their afternoon and evening together spending special time with each other walking around the mall, eating dinner, and enjoying ice cream cones!

That time I came back to my phone, and this was only a sample of the pictures I found:

More Ethan:

I'm grateful that school appreciates my baby boy for so much of what makes him special and shares these pictures:

As most of my blog stalkers know, we are raising a young family with positive Jewish traditions and memories weekly and throughout the year. We attend services, eat delicious foods, and sing Hebrew songs all the time. And we are fortunate to belong to a synagogue that embraces their sounds as holy noise (usually), and my children might be a little comfortable in the space.

All 3 Cohen kiddos helped Rabbi Swedroe
during a Saturday night song session.
"Ivdu Et Hashem"/"Hinei Matov"

Ethan helped lead T'filah with Rabbi Blumofe one morning at religious school.

"Hinei Matov"
"Am Yisrael Chai"
"Shema Yisrael"

Happy 12 years of marriage to Mommy and Daddy this month! We enjoyed a lovely morning together with breakfast and a hike with zero children. Unheard of.

And last, Nikki and Maggie: Sometimes cuddle buddies. Often ignored. Always loved.
