18 People, 1 Dog, 1 House, #UB40

When Boston comes to Driftwood for vacation, the rest of Texas ascends. What resulted was the first time all 18 descendants of Don and Judy Kaye (and 1 grand-dog) joined together in a massive, fun, and epic weekend.

the faces on our way over

The first night was very exciting, filled with a delicious Shabbat dinner, tons of cousin togetherness, and lots of adults pretending to ignore the children.

On Saturday morning, all 18 headed to Camp Ben McCollough to wade in the water, try to catch fish, throw rocks, swing on ropes, and enjoy each other's company.

I don't think any fish were successfully caught, but these 2 ladies sure tried really hard.

Manly rock throwing-

Great times at the creek!

We returned back to the house for a pizza party followed by a pool party! With such little time all together, we had to keep the party going and going and going!

Introducing "chicken fight" may not have been the best choice, but the kids didn't seem bothered. Game on!

Not sure who enjoyed the new floating basketball hoop more - the kids or the mature uncles:

Sam and Gabi started a private session in the spa.

Then, Aunt Mandy somehow drew the shorter end of the stick as the spa became kid invasion.

Fun with bubbles:

With everyone else distracted, Spencer decided to take on Uncle Craig with his squirter. Shayna quickly came to his side, and with 2-on-1, Craig didn't stand a chance.

hilarious victory!

After the pool party, we transitioned to an ice cream party to celebrate all SIX (half and whole) birthdays coming up within the next month.

the almost 5 and 6 year olds!

We had already been to the creek, had a pizza party, pool party, and ice cream party. We took some time to get a lot of people clean, and then a DANCE PARTY was next!

No babies were permanently harmed in the making of the dance party.

In addition to 18 humans being inside 1 house getting alonglylike, Knox the Cohan puppy was with us too. So dog walking parties happened as well.

It takes a village to walk a puppy.

Any way you counted fingers and toes, it was a lot.

The kiddos seemed to be in perfectly capable hands...

...So anyone between the ages of 13-67 went out to surprise Sandi for a night of EPIC fun in honor of her upcoming 40th birthday. (And yes, that did leave Nana and Zayde as the gracious babysitters to 9 children.)

the original fab four
beginning the night on an epic note

The 7 (for now) thirty-somethings headed to Epic After Dark, an adults-only hangout that included all you can eat, drink, play, sing, climb, dance, laser tag, bump cars, and axe throw. So naturally - being responsible, calm, and soothing parents (with zero pent-up stress or tension) - we had to start the night throwing axes as hard as we could into "wooden" targets.

It turned out that nailing the target was more challenging than anticipated.

Nevertheless, we persisted.

The young at heart moved to the elevated ropes course next.

This is 40.

#UB40

This is 35.

Throughout the night, we had plenty of laughs and plenty of moments of self-amusement.

Yup, karaoke happened.
"You're the one who makes me come runnin'/
You're the sun who makes me shine"
a super fabulous and manly rendition of
"Bohemian Rhabsody"

In Zayde's honor - "Joy to the World"

Laser Tag happened.

Drinking while driving happened.

And tons of arcade and good times happened.

not even from axe throwing
Sometime around midnight, we ventured to the grocery
store because at the end of the night, we apparently still
had babies who needed milk. And yes, donuts happened.
And no, the clerks did not believe that we were sober.

The children didn't seem to care that the adults were up late. We were all ready to enjoy one last morning together before parting ways.

Going strong 'til the end! Who knew these 2 would be the last ones standing (/running)?
