Wedding Weekend Getaway

When you've known someone over 26 years, you'll go just about anywhere to help her celebrate her special wedding. It turns out we *only* had to go to Galveston and enjoy a quick beach trip and celebrate our newly shared anniversary together!

Since we stayed at a beach-house 4 blocks from the beach, we just had to sneak on over when we first arrived on Saturday afternoon before getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. Being mid-November, the water was COLD, but luckily, the little ones didn't immerse their bodies fully until the next morning. BRRRR. At least the air temperature was decent.

At night, we went to a restaurant to start celebrating Aunt Mor and Eric. The kiddos and Jon only made a brief appearance and then returned back home for bedtime. Then, many adults stayed out having adult fun.

26 years go a long way!

After even more adult drinks at a rooftop bar, karaoke happened. (And yes, Backstreet Boys karaoke happened.)

Everyone got some sleep, and then we were ready to rock n' roll for another day.

"Do I look like Daddy?!"

With bathing suits on this time, we were the ONLY family daring (read: unintelligent) enough to venture our way into the water. Sure enough, we enjoyed the entire beach to ourselves. The 2 big kids ran straight in. The smaller one preferred another mode of getting there.

The threesome didn't seem to notice or mind that it really wasn't "ideal" beach season.

There are worse ways to celebrate 11 years of marriage. Happy Anniversary!

The sand was nice and compact for good digging and building.

Gabi was in her element.

With some new seashell treasures in hand and some cold shivering bodies, it was time to head back to the house for warm baths and dry clothes.

And then in the evening, it was time for the moment we were REALLY in town for: celebrating the special union between Mor and Eric. We were so grateful to participate in the joy of the day and also grateful for a sneaky anniversary date!
