Casey the kitty cat continued to make herself comfortable at home. [With the annoying challenge that she really prefers urinating on our bathroom rugs-] She is a marvelously social and sweet kitty and just wants to be with you in the same room. She comes to snuggle with Gabi every night at bedtime.
Casey is very sweet with the kids and lets them pet her softly. (even Spencer!)
If she wants to be in the same room as us, she needs to learn that there are feline sisters that come with the property too. The hissing continued this month but continued to decrease.
In other kitty news-
(How did I get Ethan to smile in the 3rd picture above? I bribed him with a salad of course.) |
Why are Nikki and Maggie hiding in a closet? |
We found even more kitties to cuddle while the Gildens were playing at the beach. Team Cohen took care of Eva and Abby to make sure they got some food and a little love.
Toddlerhood is among us! On the 24th of August, this little nugget turned 18 months. Spencer is up to the 7th percentile in height (!) at 31 in. and weighs 22 lb (up to 18th%). He had a language explosion this month (meaning, he actually attempted coherent language). He still doesn't love signing, but he loves talking. He repeats sounds and words. He passionately sings "Baa Baa Black Sheep." And the best part - he has mastered shaking his head 'No.'
But gosh darnit, he’s cute… |
(Speaking of school, the preschool shared these sweet pictures of the moments shared by the two brothers when they were interacting through the windows.)
Right on time, Spencer is showing us all the signs of toddlerhood. He is the cutest, happiest boy who can roll around very stubbornly, shrieking the whole time if he doesn't want his diaper changed. Before I even got a chance to record his new milestone of shaking his head, he learned how to say "No." Gabi thinks it's hilarious and encourages it as much as possible.
(You may not need all of these seemingly similar pictures in your collection, but clearly, I do.)
We celebrated little man's half birthday at fro yo with Aunt Syssa and Shayna.
Daddy and the 2 older kids had so much fun at the baseball game last month, they decided to go back. Go Round Rock Express!
They were especially excited about the backpack giveaway! |
They each got to choose a special treat once again. Gabi again enjoyed popcorn; Ethan again chose ice cream. |
Special Daddy Time! | man by ourselves. I made cheesy eggs thinking it would be an easy reliable way to get protein in him. I was wrong. |
Gabi had an exciting month in August starting elementary school and did AWESOME. She may have never spent that much time or days at school ever. She may have been very tired.
When Gabi started going to school 5 days a week for the first time in her whole life, we got some extra special time with Ethan and Spencer that was different and fun.

"camera" at Spencer. (There are worse things.) |
We enjoyed a playdate one morning at Rattan Creek Park with Graham and Arthur!
We also enjoyed our friends' pool party this month. The cupcakes and their food dye were especially exciting.
We got some special new friends (Wonder Woman and Pete the Cat) from Grandma and Grandpa (and then there was a naked baby with a guitar, but not at all my first naked baby with a guitar).
We'll end the month's post with some sibling togetherness moments:
