Jinxed June

Don't let this blog post FULL of smiley, happy people fool you. Gabi and I had JUST recovered from strep in mid-May, and we were ready to start June fresh and renewed. Jon and I had a baby-free vacation planned... BUT jeez, the day we were set to travel, our flights got cancelled, and Ethan, Gabi, and I all tested positive for strep throat (Ethan having purple strep infections on his fingers as well).

THEN, 12 hours after returning from neglecting the children for a week, we ripped Gabi's throat apart with a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. Man, that recovery was brutal. Somewhere in there, Ethan got a nasty virus, complete with runny nose, sore throat, and fever. Our June was certainly jinxed. Again, don't let the following happy pictures fool you. (We just chose not to include {so many of} the screaming, cranky times here.)

One Sunday morning (in early June), we ventured to the JCC for Splash Day! Gabi enjoyed the water inflatables.

Splash Day came with free popcorn and face painting too!

Fast forward to post tonsil surgery when I was grateful for ANY Gabi smiles and fun-spirit I could get!

But - womp womp - Ethan gets a fever; Gabi's still cranky; enter sleeping baby on my lap and fish movie on TV.

The day would have continued as such until Aunt Syssa called to tell us she (and Uncle Craig, Joey, Papa Jay, and Grandy) wanted to borrow the baby float for the pool. Change of plans! Seize the day!

My kiddos once again found their smiles!

As long as you kept them out of the house and relatively busy, you could avoid (some of) the fussing.

Celebrating Father's Day mid-June:

This cool kid is just a few short months away from turning 2. He decided to start learning 10 new words a day, can repeat any word that's said to him once (in his own special way of course), has developed quite the funky personality, and is just really fun to be around (when he's not clinging to my leg...) I think he even has three new freckles on his cheek!

Ethan has become more and more interested and helpful around the kitchen. Here, he helps Mommy with a blueberry cobbler and quickly learns how addicting a power button can be.

so SO SOOOOO much love for our bestie/cousin 'Joe Joe'

Daddy's little helper

Yes, this nut ate a huge bowl of peas and corn for snack. Yes, I'm sure that's normal. Yes, he's a big goofball.

"UPPPPPEASE!!!!!"

More moments of smiles happened when we visited the ceramic cows at the Arboretum.

(Just in case you were starting to convince yourselves that it was all sunshine and rainbows during tonsillectomy recovery...)

We have started this fantastic tradition called 'Popcorn Thursday.' Even grumpy pants enjoys it.

Poor girl had it rough this month, so as stated, we were grateful for any extra smiles and fun moments that snuck our way.
