To quote the blog post from Rodeo 2014 - When you get that crowd together, you're bound for little sleep, much noise, and lots of great memories!
On Friday morning, we make sure to pack all of our necessary and important items:
Yes, my 2 kids hold hands in the car. Yes, it's adorable. |
We arrive, unite with Boston and Atlanta, and then it's time to get Mira and Jacob from school.
With 6/7 of the cousins reunited, it's time for fro yo!
Saturday morning arrives, and we make breakfast, cut and paint nails, and babysit a lot of children with one small electronic device. I'm sure your family gets ready for Rodeo the same way.
Now, it's REALLY ready for Rodeo Time. Yee Haw!
Mira does the cowgirls' hair in pigtails. |
Joey's first rodeo! |

Cohan cow-kid cuties |
When we arrive, we head straight for the very interactive farm. We get our baskets, plant our crops, collect wool from the sheep, give corn to the chickens, milk the cows, sell our produce at the Farmer's Market...Phew!
Noah and Sammy are ready to farm! | Jacob and Mira make their corn angels. |
Ethan explores the corn. | Joey excitedly rides a sheep. | Sammy and Noah in the corn |
Gabi and Ethan milk the cows. |
Time for the petting zoo!
Ethan desperately tries to pet the "duKH!" |
Where was Jacob, you ask, while the rest of the cousins were at the petting zoo? Why, he was getting ready for Mutton Bustin'!
Back inside for some more animals, family bonding, and an air conditioned rest.
my cute cowgirl + my wacky husband = LOVE |
The time has arrived for CINNAMON BUNS. Any blog loyalist will recognize this yummy, sugary rodeo tradition.
Blog loyalists will also recognize Jacob's passion for rodeo cinnamon buns. |
not going to remember his first time |
"What is that fantastic-looking thing?" |
"I would like to try it please." | "Enough already with the pictures. Gimme!" |
When we do this every year, we all know to expect family pictures after cinnamon buns. Our token barrel was GONE, but our favorite cardboard cutout was still there, so we were able to make do.
Pigtail Cowgirls (including one very enthusiastic picture participant on the right) |
It had been a very long day. |
16/16, mostly smiling! YEE HAW!!! |
Time to go home; Goodbye Rodeo! | HELLO naked babies! |
cousins' bath!!! |
On Sunday morning, Ethan is still in the Rodeo spirit at breakfast. BUT it is time to get into the picture-taking spirit. All 16 head to the mall for a photo shoot. Ethan and Gabi know how to look the part.
We actually manage one GREAT group shot of all 7 cousins mostly looking happy and all getting alongly-like!
And then Ethan was done.
UNTIL - Mira gets the surprise of her almost 9-year-old life! She will get to pierce her ears TODAY!!! AND ALL of the Kaye women will be with her the whole time. Mira's mother, grandmother, and 3 aunts were super proud and eager to participate in the grand occasion.
important job of the aunts to make sure the holes will be perfectly placed |
BEAUTIFUL BRAVE BIG GIRL DID IT!!! |
After we're all fed and rested from the morning's excitement, we go to Mira and Jacob's school playground for some fun.

Since the 6-year-old helped his cousins get home... |
...Zayde had to help the 6-year-old's bike get home. |
For our last big batch of family fun, we go outside on Sunday night after dinner to use Aunt Sandi's new patio furniture and fire pit to roast marshmallows for s'mores! (The silly flash on the camera lessened the cool effect of the fire, but I fixed that by the end.)
Before head back to Austin on Monday morning, I sneak off for a fun breakfast with Mor. (And apparently, we chose to dress alike too!)
These 2 literally passed out before we even left Aunt Sandi's neighborhood. We had an exhausting but fun-filled family weekend! Thanks to Sandi for hosting the choas! Can't wait to do it again soon.
