Daddy's Birthday

As of September 2014, our first week(ish) of September got even more exciting with 3 birthdays within 6 days of each other. We didn't want Daddy's to get overlooked though, and thankfully he was off work for us to celebrate for a whole day!

In the morning, we went to feed some ducks:

Thanks to Aunt Syssa and Uncle Craig for birthday babysitting (!!!), we were able to enjoy a night out on the town!

Sometimes, you have to be tourists in your own city! I surprised Jon with a BAT CRUISE! [For those who don't know, there is a colony of 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats that emerge nightly at sunset from the Congress Avenue Bridge, and it is quite a sight, especially from a view sitting on Lady Bird Lake!]

Then we went to dinner to enjoy the rest of the night! Happy Birthday to Jon!

Awesome August 2015

Another month has come and gone. This was most certainly the hottest month so far this year with temperatures around 100 most days here in central Texas! We stayed wet, explored new places, played in old favorites, and had a great month. Here is the fun that wasn't posted elsewhere.

Little (?) Ethan turned 11 (!) months old at the beginning of August!

Ethan knew he was getting ready for a big birthday, so in order to prepare he reached the following developmental accomplishments this month:
  • Fine motor overload: waving, pointing, High 5!
  • SIGNING! He signs "more," "all done," and "eat."
  • Gross motor: While he's always enjoyed pushing things around, he now uses the walker much better than he had. By the end of the month, he became a pro at walking while holding our hands!

Perhaps if his sister wasn't in the way...?
There he goes! (And he shows off some of his moves on the way.)

A very lovely neighbor gave us a free baby pool that we are very excited about!

Look who came over one morning to visit:

Uncle Craig sacrificed his dry
shirt for the love of his nephew.

Carrots are a funny thing.

Kissing baby cousin! (We're so excited
to meet him in a couple of months!)

August date night included some adult-friendly Austin that we don't get to do with our babies.

dipping in cold cold Barton Springs

watching Hairspray in the park

Being so close to a year (and having already weaned himself off me), we said BYE BYE bottle and HELLO cow's milk! His big sister took to cold milk well, and we were hoping for similar results. Ethan took it like a charm and loved it!

Gabi practices for our beach vacation coming soon.

Where did she go?
When you have a failed attempt at video chatting, how do you leave a message?

We should take pictures and encourage this, right?

Today, the pool chair. Tomorrow, the crib? :/

Yes, Gabi wore her pink cape through the whole museum.

Yup.

Notice anything familiar?

He's pretty proud of himself. One day, I'll get my own smoothie.

(Photographed) Fun with friends this month included:

enjoying snack and snuggles with Maven

playing with Nora at the Domain

These 2 enjoyed a private date on the lawn.

dancing to their own beat

dress-up and snack fun with Kemper

Ethan and Gabi play with Allison.

And last but not least - your Team Cohen moments of zen for the month:

Being super into Anna/Elsa these days (having still not seen the movie), she was excited about Erin's birthday party theme

that time Gabi and her friends got 'these' tattoos

that time Ethan was featured on the Austin Jewish Families Facebook group page for eating food off the floor
